Austin Gatt il-qammiel

Lill-eks Ministru Austin Gatt iddeskrivewh b’bosta aġġettivi kemm dam fil-politika, imma għandi d-dubji tiegħi jekk qattx ħadd sejjaħlu “qammiel”. Illum, aktar minn sena u nofs wara li għidnielu “Bye Bye”, sirna nafu li l-ikbar disfatta li x’aktarx se jibqa’ msemmi għaliha Austin kienet frott ta’ kemm dan il-Ministru  tqammel bi flusna.

Għax illum il-Ministru li ħa t-tmun tat-trasport pubbliku minn idejn Agostino Pio Gatt (proprjament hekk jismu Austin) qalilna li biex iħaddem is-sistema tal-karozzi tal-linja b’mod effiċjenti, lill-operatur il-ġdid minn  Spanja se nkunu qed nagħtuh sussidju ta’ 23 miljun Ewro fis-sena. U min se juża tal-linja se jkun qed jagħti xi ħaġa iktar b’nollijiet iktar għoljin.
Din is-somma hija ferm iktar mid-doppju ta’ kemm Austin Gatt kien ftiehem li aħna għandna nħallsu lill-kumpanija Arriva.
X’ħin smajt din l-aħbar mill-ewwel staqsejt lili nnifsi “Minjaf kif kienet tkun ir-riforma fit-trasport pubbliku taħt il-PN kieku Austin ma tqammilx u lill-Arriva tagħhom 23 miljun u n-nollijiet għamilhom ftit iktar għoljin.”
Staqsejt ukoll “Minjaf jekk kienetx tkun aktar pożittiva r-reazzjoni tal-Oppożizzjoni Laburista kieku Agostino Pio daħħal idu ftit aktar fi bwietna biex jagħtina trasport pubbliku aktar effiċjenti?”
Imbagħad waqaft naħseb fuq il-passat u bdejt naħseb fuq illum u ħsibt li forsi huwa l-Ministru Joe Mizzi li huwa ħali u galantom bi flus ħaddieħor.
23 miljun!
Aħjar naħseb fuq għada u pitgħada. U qed naħseb li b’dawk il-flus kollha bilfors se jkollna trasport pubbliku 5 star u li l-karozza se nkun nista’ niggaraxjaha. Jekk ma jkunx hekk ma naħsibx li Joe Mizzi jdum wisq ma jingħaqad ma’ Gatt fil-lista tal-eks Ministri.

  1. There is another view to your interesting blog. If Min. Joe Mizzi during negotiations with Arriva, was prepared to offer the same conditions, offered to the Spanish company. Would Arriva, with the improved contract, have accepted to continue operations?

    The Minister had declared in the program DISSETT, that Arriva was losing €1 million a month, he had categorically declared that under government management he was sure that these losses would be reduced. Has any entity run more profitably under government management and ownership, as opposed to private ownership? I think NOT.

    So whilst the Hon Mizzi is refùsing to publish the results incurred since 01.01.2014, which certainly are running much higher than under Arriva, and these losses are now being financed by the taxpayer. When one adds this, I cannot but call it Financial Recklessness.

  3. "Jekk ma jkunx hekk ma naħsibx li Joe Mizzi jdum wisq ma jingħaqad ma’ Gatt fil-lista tal-eks Ministri". Hekk tahseb? Kemm sejjer imqarraq. Mela dawn jafu jisthu? Mela dawn jafu xi tfisser tigbor giehek?

  4. Ftit ilu persuna li tahdem fid-dar ta hbieb tieghi qaltilhom li n-nollijiet prezenti tat-transport pubbliku 'huma irhas wisq'. Nahseb li l-kumment ta' din il-persuna jirrifletti l-hsieb ta' hafna mil-laburisti li lest jaccettaw kollox minn ghand joey u shabu.
